Nevermore 3 - Game of the Day
Nevermore 3 is the latest installment in Adam Westerman’s beautiful platforming adventure series. Once again, you’ll take control of the little hero Olek, as you run and jump your way through a delightfully surreal world in search of treasure.
The first Nevermore game was generally praised, but didn’t explain much when it came to the protagonist’s objectives and purpose. Nevermore 2 (the second game, but technically a prequel to the first), shed some needed light on Olek and his motivations. Nevermore 3 subtly improves upon the previous games and continues the story, while managing to retain the feeling of wonder and exploration present in its predecessors. It’s not necessary to have played the previous games to enjoy the new experience, but you’ll probably want to anyway, as they’re also very good.
The gameplay mechanics are very accessible: you’ll use the arrows to move, and the spacebar to jump. Occasionally, you’ll use the mouse to click through dialogue or to interact with certain objects, but most of the action centers on traversing the striking environments.
It’s rather difficult to go into too much detail without ruining the experience, since the game is all about exploration and discovery. That said, the game provides a truly engaging adventure that’s a feast for the senses. It’s best to just dive in and experience Nevermore 3 for yourself.
